Concept Statement

A sportive contemporary environment that portrays entertainment, privacy and encourages women of Qatar to participate in an active lifestyle.

Why Doing it?

Not only is it affecting the general women demographic and their health it is also affecting their athlete registration numbers in national teams and clubs up to only 7.3% of women in Qatar. A very low citizen base to support the backbone of these female athletes we can directly notice the lack of understanding and knowledge shared within the community.

Concept

The net concept came to mind while thinking about the different competition levels the facility aims to offer. If we deconstruct the element of the net itself, it's made out of strings interlined with each other creating a plan that is adjustable to its environment.

Conceptual Phase

Building Structure

The building is made out of container structures and metal foundation columns that hold the building as well as reinforced concrete.

Site Analysis

The location of the building is strategic to host this facility because it is located in Alsadd which connects so many cities around it in Doha.Aspire and The Education City are 10 minutes awayfrom the location which is a key element of the age group targeted for the facility.

Sport Identity

Strings can symbolize the athletes that the facility will host
and train to excellency, nonetheless interline is bound to happen and working as a group is what will bring them to the top. By being fluid, adjustable and tolerable towards each other just like strings of a net function.

Net Function

Community

Sport communities are built to have strong social bonds,
a safe environment and generally spreads happiness within the community. Healthy competition is a key element within the group this facility is trying to achieve. Excellence and a healthy mentality for female athletes to build a future in Qatar.

These colors have a physiological impact on the athletes performance and general competition level which is vital in the facility general goal.

Interactive Design

The facility aims to create a competitive environment which portrays an entertaining healthy community of sport enthusiasts. Interactive design in the facility will take a part which contributes through Sound sensors around the facility lighting up the walls and on spectators rests once they start cheering their teams.

Visual Motivation

Whether you're an athlete or an audience member, scoreboards are an important visual element in a game. Not only does it set the atmosphere of competitiveness between end users, it is a key factor to goal setting,time management,motivation,self awareness and transformation.

Forms And Function Into Space

The net deconstruction and its function within the facility would mostly be introduced through light fixtures and Layering implemented in the facility walls.Through this design element show different intensity levels of compression and release.

Compression and Release

Compressed lights would show the intense areas of the facility which are the courts where they would overlap to show the competitiveness level of the games.Less compressed lights would show through corridors with less layers and a release to athletes once they leave the courts.

Main Section

Wall Sound Sensors

The sound sensors are distributed equally in the space. The sensors detect noise from the audience and mimic the sounds through colors to showcase the level of enthusi- asm by the spectators. Red represents high enthusiasm, orange is medium, green and blue is low and white is no enthusiasm.
